Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening

Teeth get discoloured and darken with age and by coloured food substances that we consume on a daily basis. It is now possible to whiten your teeth and make them appear lighter brighter and more youthful!
Tooth whitening is achieved by placing a bleaching gel on the surfaces of your teeth which penetrates the tooth substance and breaksdown the molecules that cause the discolouration.
The bleaching gel can be applied on your teeth in the surgery (power whitening) or by constructing close fitting trays in which you place the bleaching gel at your own convenience (home whitening). You may be recommended a combination of both (combination whitening)
You will first need an assessment by your dentist who will diagnose the cause of your discolouration ( x rays may be necessary) and if your condition is treatable by tooth whitening an appropriate treatment protocol will be devised and explained.
The majority of discolourations can be treated by tooth whitening procedures
